MEET US
WHO WE ARE
We are breeders of American Staffords from Slovenia, Dolenjska. Our kennel is registered in the FCI register under number 04/2017. We have been dedicated to breeding this wonderful breed since 2017, although we were introduced to it many years before that.
Our passion for breeding is evident in the dedication, time and energy we invest in each and every dog. We are not only breeders, but also dedicated handlers, trainers, dog lovers and cynologists. Every dog we have is something extraordinary for us, because each one has its own unique potentials, which we persistently develop. Our dogs are not only a part of our lives, they are also an important part of our family.
VISION AND MISSION
Our mission is to provide healthy and stable puppies, but they must not lose even an iota of the temperament that we expect from every American Stafford. This character is key to successful training and working with a dog. Our commitment to breed standard is central, so we carefully select mating combinations, focusing exclusively on proven healthy and stable males. Our goals include achieving excellent results at international dog shows, as well as active participation in working and sports disciplines such as IPO, rescue, obedience and the like. With this, we want to demonstrate and develop the potential of our dogs and contribute to the comprehensive progress of the breed.
About the American Staffordshire Terrier breed
Dogs of this breed are very attentive, friendly and intelligent. They are excellent watchdogs by nature and very protective of their family. The Stafford is a very happy and self-confident dog that, with proper socialization and training, can be gentle and loving towards people, children and other animals. He is kind-hearted, funny, very loyal and ready to please his owner.
He is very attached to his family, which is why he is an excellent family companion. It is also a brave, reliable and intelligent guard dog, full of life. It needs a lot of physical activity and mental stimulation, and is more suitable for owners who have experience in raising and training. He can stay in an apartment without any problems, with suitable outdoor activities.

More than just breeding – Training, Passion & Life with our dogs
At Double Trouble AST, we believe that the American Staffordshire Terrier is much more than just a beautiful dog. It is an incredibly versatile, intelligent, courageous, and capable breed. That is why our goal goes beyond breeding healthy, well-balanced, and successful show dogs. We are equally passionate about developing their natural abilities, character, and individual potential.
Training, socialization, and working with our dogs are an essential part of our everyday life We understand that every dog has its own personality, talents, and abilities, which can be developed through the right approach, patience, dedication, and consistent training.
From the show ring to Search and rescue
Our passion for exploring the abilities of our dogs led Nina into the world of search and rescue, specifically searching for missing persons. She successfully qualified as a search and rescue dog handler and, together with her beloved late Hulk, formed an exceptional search and rescue team. Their incredible bond, dedication, and enthusiasm for working together made them a truly special team, and their journey remains an important part of our story.
Although Hulk is sadly no longer with us, his legacy lives on. Today, Nina continues her active training with Joker, who enthusiastically takes on new challenges. Other members of our canine family also regularly join them during training sessions.
Kaskara has particularly impressed us with his natural abilities and enthusiasm for work, while Pussy Cat and Aska have also shown great interest and potential. There are still many training sessions, new experiences, and exciting adventures ahead of us – in the forests, on rubble sites, and at training grounds.
For us, this is what life with dogs is truly about: giving them opportunities to enjoy meaningful activities, keeping them physically and mentally engaged, and continuously discovering just how much they are capable of achieving.
OUR VIEW ON BREEDING
What does it really mean to be a breeder? To us, this title carries great meaning and responsibility, and we take it very seriously. Our journey began long before we officially registered our kennel with the FCI in 2017. We spent years planning and developing the principles that would guide our breeding program. Those same values remain the foundation of everything we do today.
For us, breeding is much more than simply planning litters and raising puppies. It is a way of life that involves daily care for our dogs, walks, training, socialization, dog shows, and continuous learning. Our dogs are part of our family, and their well-being always comes first.
Days off are practically nonexistent, and even when we go on holiday, our dogs often come along. They are our first thought in the morning and our last concern before we go to sleep.
As our kennel continues to grow, so do our responsibilities, workload, and investments. More training, more dog shows, more travelling, and above all, more time dedicated to our dogs.
Raising our puppies and supporting their early development is one of the most important parts of our breeding program We believe that responsible breeding goes far beyond carefully selecting parents, ensuring good health, and producing excellent pedigrees. It also means giving every puppy the best possible start in life.
From their earliest weeks, we place great emphasis on early socialization and introducing puppies to different sounds, surfaces, people, environments, and everyday situations. We gradually encourage them to explore, become more independent, and develop confidence.
As they grow, we also introduce short, playful training sessions, basic commands, and the first steps towards building a positive relationship and cooperation with people. All activities are carefully adapted to each puppy’s age, development, and individual abilities.
Our goal is for every puppy to leave our kennel curious, confident, well-socialized, and equipped with a solid foundation for further training and development. We understand that the real journey with a new owner is only just beginning, but we want to give every puppy the best possible start.
We are often asked whether breeding dogs is profitable. At first glance, it may seem like a profitable activity, but responsible, high-quality breeding involves far more than most people realize.
Our journey is certainly not one that begins and ends with producing a litter. Behind it are years of dedication, daily work, personal sacrifices, and significant financial investments. Without our regular jobs, maintaining everything we do would simply not be possible.
We continuously invest in improving our dogs’ living conditions, providing high-quality nutrition, health screenings, genetic testing, veterinary care, training, and equipment.
Travelling, dog shows, entry fees, and professional handling involve additional expenses, as does caring for pregnant females, managing whelpings, and raising puppies. Every year, we strive to improve our facilities and provide our puppies with even more positive experiences, activities, and opportunities to develop.
For us, breeding has never been just a hobby or a business. It is our passion, our responsibility, and our way of life. And although it requires an enormous amount of time, energy, and personal sacrifice, seeing our dogs healthy and happy, following their achievements, and watching our puppies thrive with their new families constantly reminds us why we chose this path.
